Washington December 14 tentative steps outlined for a new statute to unify radio telephone and telegraph under strict government control. President Roosevelt weighing a report suggesting granting virtual monopolies to communication systems and regulating them via a Federal commission. Secretary Roper said the committee would draft no final plan yet.
Interior Secretary Harold L. Ickes, confined to bed in Washington Naval Hospital after a fall on the ice, continues work and reviews recommended or tentative legislation. He has conferred with Senate and House commerce committee leaders Dill and Rayburn on federal policy for communications, with discussion of monopoly supervision versus government ownership.
Mr and Mrs Russell Funk plus others visited the Morris and Lawson home in Reid area. Pauline and Gladys Cook called on Mary Baumgardner family near Reid. Families Henesy Cook and others helped with butchering. November attendance in Theodore Snyder's class lists many local names.
Charles T. Hentschel a 65 year old retired inventor shot his 26 year old daughter Elizabeth twice through the heart in the kitchen and then killed himself after returning to his chair neighbors said both required constant care and the note to his wife stated I can’t go any further I have waken Elizabeth with me Your husband Charles Mrs Hentschel found the bodies on returning from town and notified police
