Plans for New Public Square Traffic System
Mayor Musey and the Board of Street Commissioners discussed a revised traffic layout for Public Square with Captain Caseidy. The plan calls for removing the egg shaped safety zone and the police box to allow through traffic on Washington and Potomac streets, with changes to take effect after the holiday season. The engineering department prepared a plotted proposal and the city clerk was tasked to draft coal specifications for next year. The board noted average municipal coal use around 14 000 tons and current pricing of 64 cents per ton from a local mine. Dahlia Society Elects Officers in Hagerstown Meeting
The Hagerstown Dahlia Society met at EB Mentzer's home on Corbett Street Monday night. H C Kuhn was reelected president for a second term. officers include Blanche Downey as vice president and H K Ramsburg as secretary. The program featured a Christmas act with Starner as Santa and Mrs Weigel as the mechanical doll, plus vocal numbers. A membership prize of dahlia roots valued at $20 was announced.
