Cabinet Post Set For Volpe

Gov. John A. Volpe plans to fly to Washington Wednesday afternoon as a likely pick for secretary of transportation in the Nixon cabinet. Spokesmen say the president elect will announce the picks that night in Washington. Volpe’s press secretary Barry Locke declined to comment on possible appointment or plans.

Washington AP report says a federal grand jury investigation of Harlem Democrat Adam Powell expired without indictment over $40,000 in public funds. DOJ notes no charges but considers civil action to recover funds.
