Deer Slayings in Frederick County Prompt Warning
Fifteen deer were killed in Frederick County with several by Carroll Joseph Coal of Thurmont Route 2. Leon Winpigler of Frederick shot a 159 pound broadtail near Fishing Creek reservoir. H Clyde Toms and Clyde R. Toms, a father and son, killed two deer near Garfield, one a 3 point buck. Two doe carcasses near the reservoir halted the tally, venison turned over to the Frederick county jail. Regional Game Warden Benjamin F. Phebus, Sr. criticized the killings of females and warned the county's deer habitat is small and could be wiped out if does are not protected.
