Capitol floors worn thin by tread of steps
Washington Dec 9 Footprints are recorded on the Capitol floors as the annual report to Congress by Elliott Woods architect of the Capitol shows constant wear on the national legislative building for more than a half century. It notes resurfacing of more than 14000 square feet of marble tile last year along with painting walls in both chambers and lighting and ventilation upgrades. The report also details reupholstering chairs, painting offices and corridors, and installing a high pressure water system with 12 valve outlets for Capitol protection and power plant duties serving multiple government buildings.
