High Winds Ravage Tri-State Area With 80 MPH Gusts
Hefty winds from an intense storm over the Great Lakes toppled communications towers in Hagerstown and Towson, blew over trailers in Frederick and Weverton, and cut power in several counties. Snow fell briefly in spots, with Garrett County keeping four inches on the ground. Fire crews battled trailers and homes as gutters and roofs failed, while power outages affected Leitersburg Security and Halfway. By evening, most utilities reported services restored and no major traffic crashes reported.

Funkstown Seeks Annexation Expansion Vote Likely
Funkstown expansion moves toward a referendum as residents debate annexing land around the town. A Nov 19 hearing showed 26 area residents opposed the annexation petition and pledged to gather more signatures. If 20 percent of residents sign, the measure could go to a vote, potentially doubling Funkstown’s size and edging toward Hagerstown’s boundary.
