Counterfeiters Seized By Secret Service in Chicago
The Secret Service said it broke up a counterfeit ring that printed $600,000 in bogus currency since July. Five men responsible for production were seized and charged with conspiracy. Four appeared before U. S. Commissioner Edwin Walker with cases continued to December 19. Bonds ranged from 7500 to 1000 dollars.

Striker Fined In Assault Case At Colonial Flooring Plant
One striker was fined 25 dollars for assault and two other workers were acquitted of disorderly conduct amid ongoing labor tensions at the Colonial Hardwood Flooring plant. Clarence E. Parcel post and delivery window hours extended
Starting Monday December 8 the parcel post window at the post office opens earlier at 8 a.m. and closes at 6 p.m. while the general delivery window opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 6 p.m. The changes add an hour to parcel post and a half hour to general delivery. Postmaster Thomas M. Simpson says both stamps and parcel post windows will be open Sunday December 21 for public convenience as Christmas approaches. He urges buying stamps early and mailing cards and parcels well in advance, especially to out-of-town addresses.

150 Planes Making Wide Search For Missing Plane
Frankfurt dispatch reports more than 150 planes took off today in a last chance hunt for a U S Army C 47 transport missing for eight days with 20 aboard. Air Force officials fear all may have perished in bitter cold yet hope remains as the search spreads to five countries including northern Italy, Switzerland, Austria, eastern and southern France and southwestern Germany. The aircraft vanished yesterday on a flight from Pisa to Frankfurt.

Cpl Harry Holsinger of the Maryland State Police, a native of Maugansville and long-time Hagerstown resident, was named to succeed Terrence J Boyle as Allegany County investigator. Boyle, in post 24 years, is on leave due to ill health. Holsinger, stationed at La Vale Cumberland, will operate from the State's Attorney's office in Cumberland. Three Hurt As Autos Collide On Fairview Mountain
Mrs. Anna Nyhuis, 34, Michigan, injured in a two car crash on Fairview Mountain near Hancock late last night, was admitted to Washington County Hospital with a fractured right leg. Leroy Lanehart, 20, and Mark H. Fost, 19, both of Hancock, sustained minor cuts treated at the hospital. Nyhuis said she was westbound when Fost’s car, speeding, failed to negotiate a curve and struck head on. No charges have been preferred.
