Talbott Says U S Aims to Win Wars Without Fighting

Air Force Secretary Harold E. Talbott told the Pennsylvania Society of Sons of the Revolution in Philadelphia that the United States seeks to win wars without combat by deterrence and rapid defense. He noted a strong home defense with air bases where defense aircraft can be in the air in three minutes, and acknowledged uncertainty about how long the situation can be maintained.

Miller Photos to Be Shown by Washington County Society

The Washington County Historical Society will showcase 400 Miller photographs from Washington County and Harpers Ferry tonight at the Mansion House City Park during its membership meeting. An exhibit on Harpers Ferry National Monument will be presented by Dr. J Walter Coleman along with a rare Sheridan letter to Grant. New Civil War relics including maps letters books and photos will debut at the Mansion House. The gathering starts at 8 o clock.

Democratic National Committee to Meet in December

Washington reports the Democratic National Committee will convene December 2 in Philadelphia to elect a treasurer and conduct other business. Stephen A. Mitchell said the session coincides with the Atlantic States Jefferson Jackson Dinner and conference, and notes the treasurer post has been vacant since May after Dwight Palmer’s resignation.

Inspection For Naval Reservists Slated Tonight
