Former local player Joseph Gatherum shot to death
The body of 24 year old Joseph Gatherum known as Red was found between Clinton Indiana and Terra Haute. Authorities question whether the death was murder or suicide. Gatherum played for Hanover Blue Ridge League and weather for Hagerstown Hubs in 1928 playoff series and was with Buffalo before Wilkes Barre assignment. His death echoes the prior fatal automobile accident of Hagerstown figure Mickey Kelliher.
