The annual Hagerstown Lodge of Elks memorial service was held at the Maryland Theatre with families and friends in attendance. Rev W B McKinley delivered the oration on the life of man, Evangelist Cooke spoke on The Golden Keys, and soloists Donald C Reed Mrs Richard C Willson and Floyd Sherman performed. The program listed deceased members and officers, with Douglas A Fletcher as memorial committee chairman and ushers named.

Funeral services for Carl Strickler pilot of the Krelder-Reisner Aircraft Co. killed when his plane crashed near Latrobe Pennsylvania were held in Scottdale. Parents and fellow flyers attended. pallbearers included Lewis Reisner and Howell Eurich.

Cornerstone Laid Sunday For Church Of God Building
Impressive ceremonies marked the cornerstone laying yesterday afternoon for the Church of God at Summit avenue and Baltimore street. The church will be dedicated in nine weeks with Rev J L Undegraff of Mt Pleasant Pa as secretary delivering the principal address. Nearly 500 attended as 136 charter members and donors to the building fund were placed in the stone. $1586 has been subscribed so far. Dr W A Gordon addressed the C B Society anniversary of the Church of God.

Four fined for auto violations in statewide drive
State officer Claude Cubbage led a weekend crackdown on auto law violations. Orville Holland of Hagerstown was fined 25 dollars for failing to report an accident to the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles and was cobbed by Justice Nave in Williamsport. Holland’s car allegedly struck James Dunn on November 23. Charles W. Poffenberger of Boonsboro,E M Baker and Seymour N. Lasher each paid 10 dollars for operating offenses.

Justice Bitner fined Carroll Mullendore ten dollars for driving with expired chauffeur license and ten more for falsely attaching a tax card. Russell Ragland paid ten dollars for using tags issued to another car. A ramshackle car led Nickica Chesuk to trouble. unable to pay a five dollar fine, the judge advised selling the car to settle the debt. Roy Clark spent Sunday with Angle Marotte.

Driver Fined and Jailed for DUI in Franklin County
Charles Snyder of Chambersburg pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and received a $200 fine plus costs and three months in jail with no parole. He drove the car that struck a Middletown car near Marion injuring four. Edgar Myers of Greencastle pleaded guilty to aggravated assault on Constable John C. Carbaugh and was fined one dollar with six months imprisonment after resisting arrest and injuring the officer.
