San Francisco State College reopened under a state of emergency as acting president Dr. J. Hayakawa was shoved by about 150 dissident students from the Students for a Democratic Society. A pickup truck was used to rally the crowd while Hayakawa urged a return to calm and tried to speak through a bullhorn. His cap was ripped from his head during the confrontation.
