Bible School grows from chicken coop to chapel
A small Bible school started in New Salem along Broadfording road using a renovated chicken coop as meeting space. The project, led by Miss Pauline Welty and supported by Henry Weithberg and Frank Welty, aims to offer non-denominational Sunday classes for children from eight to ten denominations. The Point Salem Gospel Mission chapel is expected to be completed and dedicated around December 16, with about 75 children currently enrolled and capacity for about 120.

Reading reports say Mrs. Cora Catherine Schoenly, 25, a knitting mill worker, and her six month old daughter Carmen Rae were found dead Friday in a gas filled bedroom. Coroner B. Black labeled the case murder and death by own action. The apartment owner said Mrs. Schoenly had been despondent.
