County's School Bus Drivers Get Awards For Safe Driving
Eighty eight drivers received National Safety Council certificates and pins for accident free driving as part of the annual school bus inspection. Presentations were made by Claude B Brubeck with officials from the Board of Education and motor vehicle departments. In Liberal Kansas a calf trapped in a 14 foot snowdrift in an open shed during a March blizzard was freed by Mike Gobble, his father Earl, and volunteers after over eight hours of effort. The calf recovered and, now a sleek shorthorn, was named Grand Champion Beef Animal at the fair.
