The State Roads Commission seeks a right of way for a dual highway through the golf links east of Hagerstown. A jury in circuit court will hear the case tomorrow at 10 o'clock. Plaintiffs name Lyman H. Reamer Joseph B. Reynolds and the Hagerstown Golf Club. Seven witnesses are summoned including Charles Strole John Swain J W Barncord N B Rowe E L Masters and Walter Lindsay.

Scranton Pennsylvania August 27 54 year old John Pernot said he might as well die when WPA surveyors warned him of danger as rescuers from a nearby coal company pulled his body from an old stripping operation. He was suffocated in a earth slide while digging for coal.
Over several nights a porch on Mrs. G. A. Rudisill at 31 Randolph Avenue was damaged by someone whistling there. Mrs. Rudisill suspects the culprit and will notify police tomorrow unless repairs are made.

Paris authorities raid the 4th Arrondissement around City Hall arresting Jews and Communists as residents are confined to homes and required to show identification papers. The action follows prior arrests in the 11th and 20th arrondissements. A new special court panel in the Palace of Justice will direct rapid trials with power to imprison or sentence to death.
Centralia reports the 2nd battalion of the 185th Infantry, 49th Division, largely California troops, drifted in the Southern Pacific county timberland during war maneuvers. A Brooklyn woman and three of her four children were slain with slashed throats in a blood spattered flat, a note indicating the woman wrote the message had the line this is the best way out. The dead children were Marcelia 7 Claire 4 and Paul 3. The wounded were William 4 11 and his father William a former policeman. William Jr. not expected to live.
Frederick city will pay for 315 parking meters installed last October around September 15. The city expects annual collections of about 3289.00 and discusses future use of the revenue. Frederick has more meters than Hagerstown, Chambersburg, and Waynesboro, though those cities are smaller. Agitation grows for additional meters in West Washington street block two and the public square.

Qor Melvin Krebs faced a fine of 25 dollars or 24 days in jail in Mag istrate M. V. B. Bostetter's court this morning after a reckless driving charge. He allegedly drove a car into a telephone pole on Foundry Street.
