Boy Fatally Hurt By Automobile On Leitersburg Pike
A six year old boy named Donald O Brian was killed when struck by a Bailey vehicle at Church and James streets. Justice Bitner deemed the crash unavoidable and no inquest will be held. Seven others were injured in crashes near Hagerstown as well as on Leitersburg Pike. Survived by parents and siblings, grandfather John R O Brian died earlier. Double funeral planned with services at home and Mt Olivet Chapel. In a separate collision on Leitersburg Pike Louis A Sager family and Bill Hassett were injured. Mrs Sager most seriously treated at Washington County Hospital.

William Heinecke, accused of bigamy, had a hearing postponed to Monday as his first wife travels from Baltimore to testify for the prosecution. Heinecke allegedly married at Emory Grove, deserted the wife, and later married a local girl in Hagerstown. He previously served six months for non support of his Baltimore wife.

Police traced 14 year old Louise Smyre of Ray street after she went missing Tuesday night. She was found by Waynesboro officers in the Pennsylvania town and brought to Hagerstown. An accompanying girl had left home with her but returned the same night. two men allegedly invited them for a car ride. The missing girl said she did not know the male companion. Authorities noted she had run away from home before.

Narrow Escape for Two Sharpsburg Men

Donald Newman colored, security, was fined five dollars and costs on a reckless driving charge in Police Court after a Tuesday night collision on Paper Mill road. He appealed through attorney J Cleveland Grice. The crash involved a motorcycle carrying Fred Smalling and Theodore Carbaugh. Carbaugh broke a collar bone and other injuries while Smalling had a cut to the head. Carbaugh alleged a Negro woman fled the scene. Newman said he drove the machine.

A mysterious explosion near Clearspring damaged a mailbox in front of Daniel Mills’s home on Western Pike. Neighbors heard prowlers before the blast that lifted wires 25 feet and split a locust post. Women clash with miners at Ohio Florence Mine
About 50 to 75 women attacked a convoy of 23 non union workers en route to the Florence Mine in Ohio under guard of Sheriff Hardesty and eight deputies. Three women were jailed after the melee in which deputies reported minor injuries and one serious bite. The mob dispersed as deputies pursued and more arrests were expected.
