American Air Raids Pound Suburbs of Hanoi and Rail Lines

American warplanes intensified strikes deep into North Vietnam hitting rail and road bridges around Hanoi including a major span near the Canal des Rapides. Reports said 162 missions flew from bases in Thailand and Vietnam as air attacks targeted supply lines, while Soviet and Pravda dispatches claimed heavy bombardments in Hanoi. No large ground battles were reported in South Vietnam but casualties rose from guerrilla actions. the air campaign aimed to disrupt China South supply routes through North Vietnam to the south.

Northwest forest fires lash Northwest. crews strained

Nine Hoboes Crown Denied At Convention Rainy Hobo Meet

At the 67th Hobo Convention in Britt Iowa only nine hoboes attended the rainy gathering. After five votes the Hardrock Kid lost his bid for the hoboes crown, receiving a can as a corroded crown. The Kid is John Mislin of New Jersey, who reclaimed the title from Richard Wilson of Pennsylvania.
