Aged farmer mauled and robbed in Berkeley County

Parents Visit Injured Sailor From Cassin Vessel
Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Athey of West Washington street returned from Philadelphia after visiting their son T. L. Athey, a crew member of the destroyer Cassin, burned in a steam explosion earlier this week. Six workers on the vessel were fatally hurt. Athey is out of danger and seemed cheerful. He suffered burns on his arms and face and inhaled steam.

Lightning Sets Barn and House Afire Near Knoxville
A lightning bolt struck the large bank barn of Mrs. Charlies O. Lee on Roger Gross’s farm near Knoxville, destroying the barn and its contents.
