Walter Hiers, a motion picture star, worked as a soda clerk when his wife Mrs Hiers stopped by after shopping. He aimed to craft novel flavors but accidentally affected the soda fountain, soaking patrons and merchandise in a chaotic moment at the corner store.
The Lonely Road, a First National 3B production starring Katharine MacDonald, screens Wednesday and Thursday. A love story with a problem, it follows a wife seeking independence, her husband’s pursuit, and a cityward adventure that reshapes their lives.
Norma Talmadge delivers a powerful performance as Mary Turner in Within the Law directed by Frank Lloyd. The photodrama, adapted from Bayard Welkier’s stage hit, plays at Nixon's Academy today and Tuesday, promising one of the era’s most gripping crook tales.
Former Congressman George A. Pearre was named receiver for the Apple Growers Co-operative Company by Judge Albert A. Doub in Cumberland. The court ordered the corporation dissolved after a June 1926 petition faced no legal objections.
