In Crisfield Maryland August 16 physicians held little hope for a 12 year old boy severely burned while rescuing ten people from the burning Virginia Commission of Fisheries patrol boat Richard C Armstrong. His father Parson Martin suffered burns to hands and face as he helped the group aboard a crabbing boat that was damaged by flames. The patrol boat sank off Chesapeake Bay eight miles from Crisfield.

Sleeping Mother Fatally Wounded in Virginia Shotgun Blast
In Narrows Virginia a shotgun blasted through an open window fatally wounding 18 year old Mrs Hannah Eppling who was asleep with her six month old daughter in her arms.
