Girl seriously wounded in accidental shotgun discharge
Frances E Bowers thirteen of Pinesburg was struck in the abdomen by a full charge when a gun her mother Susie Bowers aged forty four laid on a bed discharged with the mother claiming the weapon was cocked to frighten prowlers. Soldiers from Carlisle Barracks carried the wounded girl to Washington County Hospital where her condition was listed as critical. William Bowers sixty four, the father, is in Washington County Jail and due for release Monday. The shooting occurred about 9:30 p.m. last night as the girl stood at the foot of stairs about ten feet from the bed.
