Vienna reports that American and British protests over the Soviet seizure of Vienna Labauoi refinery were dismissed by General V. I. U.S. oil interests claimed affidavits from workers alleging three truckloads of soldiers aided the takeover.

Deputy Leister Isanogle investigated noting the boy had obtained the shell from his home and was helping catch chickens when the blast occurred. He also sustained chest burns.

Aug 15 West Frankfort Illinois three drilling crew members were killed in a mine explosion that sent about 2 000 people to the shaft in fear of a larger disaster. Two electricians from Benton were treated for minor injuries. State Mine official called it likely a local gas explosion.
