Cavalry Division In Korea Develops Navy To Hunt Reds
In Korea a front line cavalry division has created a river navy along the Imjin to deter North Korean infiltrators. Company A ath Engineer Battalion commands boats from small assault craft to fast 40 power craft, while rifle units from the 9th and 15th Cavalry Regiments patrol 15 miles of river. Captain James Z. Metalios leads the flotilla and notes the fleet keeps the Communists at bay, despite some initial boat handling mishaps. Soldiers adapt from horses to tanks, now using boats and gear in a novel river-patrol effort.
