Earle Plans Appeal Over Grand Jury Inquiry
Harrisburg August 9 The opinion of Judge Paul N Schaefer that Governor Earle s plan to substitute a legislative committee for the grand jury in a probe of charges against himself and 13 associates was unconstitutional has been appealed to the State Supreme Court Attorney General Bard led the appeal The judge was assigned to Dauphin county for the inquiry and a hearing was ordered The law would suspend the grand jury probe and grant the legislature prior right to investigate civil office holders with impeachment first and criminal action second Bard was disqualified from the case due to the Governor s involvement and material seized for the grand jury was not released awaiting the appeal decision

Mrs. Chrysler Dies At Home In Great Neck New York
Mrs. Walter P. Chrysler died at her Great Neck home after a cerebral hemorrhage at 6 p m EST. Surrounded by family she had been treated for high blood pressure and placed in an iron lung after feeling ill Sunday night. Her husband Walter Jr and Mrs Byron Foy were at the bedside along with doctors. Chrysler recalled meeting hardship early in life and the couple wed June 6 1901.
