Mr and Mrs Frank James of Williamsport announce the birth of a son at their home on August 4. Mr and Mrs Andrew Trumppower near Williamsport announce the birth of a daughter at their home last week.
Mrs Edwin C Fockler of Richmond Virginia elected president of the Bridge Teachers Association of Richmond at its second meeting. Unanimous vote. organization formed by Mrs Fockler with ten teachers attending the first meeting. A committee will draft by laws and rules. Mrs Fockler is sister of Harvey H Heyser of this city.
At the Orphans Home in San-Mar the Board reported 62 children in residence July 1 and 64 by August 1 after admissions and returns. Twenty eight children were in private homes July 1, dropping to 26 by August 1. Superintendent Esmer outlined visits to the children and the board thanked several donors. Funds are tight, and a room rearrangement plan could expand capacity by three to six children. The boys formed a baseball team and need equipment. An Auxiliary meeting is set for next Wednesday to finalize plans for the 49th Anniversary and Donation Day on September 1.
A nine hole handicap golf tourney will be played at Fountain Head Country Club tomorrow morning with women golfers teeing off at 9 50. The schedule change reduced an 18 hole luncheon match to meet the tight timetable.
A surprise party marked Mrs Hawbaker's 61st birthday at the Hawbaker home near Welsh Run. Guests included family and friends such as J N Hawbaker Melvin Hawbaker and others. Music by Mrs Victor Clark and Roy Myers, followed by games and socializing.
Dr and Mrs J S Johnson hosted guests yesterday including Mrs Engle and Miss Norma Engle of Evergreen Lane Farm Kirkwood Mo as they motored to Cape Cod. They plan a winter visit at Stonecourt Bridgeport Mrs Engle owns Jean Janey champion of Missouri for three years. Wheeling West Virginia, settled by Col Ebenezer Zane in 1769, was the first town on the Ohio River.
Miss Frances Reynolds and Albert Foltz were married on August 6 at the Lutheran parsonage in Frederick with Rev Seibel officiating. The couple, a Hagerstown High School graduate and her groom, will reside in the bride’s home after a wedding trip.
Mr and Mrs A J Forsythe announce the marriage of their daughter Helen M Forsythe to G Pearre Dennis on August 6 at St Mark s Lutheran Church parsonage. Rev J W Ott performed the ceremony.
The Alsatia Club hosts a guest night dance at Caledonia Park on Thursday August 11 from 9:30 PM to 12:30 AM with music by Jack Challer and the Club Royal Orchestra. Rufus Edwards handles guest invitations. Also notes Antoine Watteau as a major eighteenth century French genre painter.
