New Fire Alarm And Police Call Boxes Plan Approved
Five new fire alarm boxes and five police call boxes plus signal lights will be erected in outlying city sections within weeks. The move addresses gaps in fire protection and police communication as patrols risked isolation from Headquarters. A northern group plans to organize another fire company to cover property in that area, possibly using the old First Hose Company truck and a new or leased fire hall near the East End Station.

Thieves Rob Several Greencastle Homes This Weekend
The Greencastle area reports three houses entered by thieves over the weekend with more than 300 dollars taken. Mr and Mrs J Edward Omwake were away at church services when their home was ransacked. Silverware valued at 200 dollars and cash from a handbag were seized. Police expect arrests soon as they probe the pattern among the incidents involving the Rhodes and Young homes in the vicinity. William Snyder and wife from Birmingham visit the Rhodes home during the spree. Memorial tributes to President Harding were held in local churches with a proclamation read in the Presbyterian service. Cholera Found in Additional Hog Herds in County
After two months with no hog cholera in Washington County, the disease was found yesterday in the western section. Federal specialist Dr. C. K. Hoffman reports losses of 18 hogs in M. D. Weaver’s 60, 13 in Jobin Faith’s herd, and eight more in nearby farms. Farmers rushed treatment to prevent further spread as improper feeding and failure to report earlier signs were noted.
