The Farmers Protective Association holds a meeting tomorrow at 8 pm in the Williamsport schoolhouse. Candidates for county and state offices have been invited. Nomination and election of candidates will be a main item as the group discusses farmer laborers and taxpayers interests and reviews public salaries.
Longanecker of Chewsville narrowly escaped serious injury when his auto toppled after a sidewalk run in on Church Street near North Potomac. He received head and neck cuts and was treated at the scene. The other car was driven by Nicholls F. Finniff of Chambersburg, Pa. Officers Rar and Brown investigated.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt urged saving national resources of agriculture and industry from private selfishness in a speech at Glacier National Park Montana. He spoke of public land value, park development and building a nationwide public works era, praising park service and West East unity. He toured Bonneville and Grand Coulee projects, and thanked CCC volunteers for cooperative efforts with Montana senators Wheeler Erickson and John Murray.
Constable Frank Winters investigated a late Saturday hit and run in which Elmer Moser of Mt Lena reported damage to his car. An arrest was made but failed to identify the driver, the case was missed by entic Shiffler at Boonsboro.
One of the largest youth groups in years attended the Bible School Christian Endeavor and Missionary Convention in Zittlestown, Washington County August 1 2 and 3. The Church of God sponsored the gathering urging youth to join the training camp in Glrville Pa and to vote against an open liquor law. A memorial service honored two departed members and a South Mountain campfire service titled Around the Campfire With God stood out. Officers elected: President Rev H C Gonso Westminster. Vice President Roscoe Murray Frederick. Secretary Rev Co D Sullivan Finksburg. Treasurer Mrs Ruth Shindledecker Germantown. Next convention set for Uniontown.
State police in Frederick report led to the local police yesterday the license numbers of two automobiles said to have been operated by the day light robbers who on Saturday looted a moving freight train in Prince George's county. Local officers last night scanned the license plates of strange cars answering the description. Before being interrupted the thieves had tossed cartons containing 160 000 cigarettes off the train.
State and county police and railroad detectives combed highways between Baltimore and Washington in pursuit of two cars after boarding trains on a grade at Lanham Maryland yesterday.
