Washington Aug 3 In authorizing drafting after October 1 fathers living with and supporting children born before September 15 1942 Selective Service gave local boards directions on order of evil: first choose men who volunteered for induction then fill remaining calls from later groups including 1-A and 1-A-0 conscientious objectors available.
The memorandum outlines classes for induction eligibility including men with no dependents, those with collateral dependents if status was set before December 8 1943, men with wives or children in bona fide family relationships prior to December 8 1941, and notes that registrants in 1-A or 1-4-0 due to agricultural work or non-deferrable activity will be inducted before those reclassified from 3-A to EA or 1-4-0.
