Maryland to Install 4000 Shield Road Signs on Major Highways
Maryland will place about 4000 black and white shield signs on six Federal roads and other highways, marking every artery with numbered routes. Illuminated numerals will appear at 500 intersections. The plan, announced by the State Roads Commission, will retire many local road names in official designations. Gypsies Try Spell to Loot Town Innkeeper
Gypsies, likely the same trio who swindled 8. F. Burke days earlier, cast a spell on William Bodine of the Town Spring Inn in Hengesville West Virginia and forced him to surrender 108. Bodine’s wife Mrs Bodine interrupted the act and recovered all but 24. The same group reportedly pulled a similar scam in Berkeley Springs Saturday night netting 190 before recovery.
