London April 23 The Labor government will seek to settle the Irish Free State boundary dispute under the Anglo Irish Treaty J H Thomas said in Commons Ulster accuses the Free State of aiming to detach territory from Ulster The budget and boundary dispute will dominate a resumed session with broad support for the Dawes plan and possible easing of McKenna duties on foreign goods and services
The G O P in Montgomery County shows a split over Thomas L Dawson and Zihman as the May 5 primary nears. Dawson backed by two county officials, supporters claim a political plot to topple Zihman, while others defend Zihman as exonerated by a Washington grand jury and tied to ongoing congressional inquiry.
Engineer Edgar T. Hayman submitted a budget to the Board of County Commissioners proposing a 28 cent rate on the dollar for road work in Washington County plus a six cent levy for outstanding bonds and state road funds. The plan bases on a $68,000,060 taxable assessment, totaling $150,400 in available funds, with 16.5 miles of road projects across multiple routes and a Bond Issue program allocating $200,000 for shore items. Harry E. Baughman was detained in Security this morning by Sheriff and Deputy on a warrant charging bigamy. The complaint by his wife Alice R. Baughman says they separated 18 years ago and that on August 14, 1900 he married Cora A. Hoffman without divorce. Bail set at $500. hearing scheduled Thursday at 10.00 a.m. in Justice Buttner's court.
Indianapolis April 29 Warren T McCray expected to resign as Governor of Indiana today or tomorrow after his conviction in U S district court on charges of using the mails to defraud. He was jailed by U S Marshal Meredith and held until sentencing Wednesday morning.
Mrs Norma Werden alias Ethel Werden alias Mrs K Wayne arrested in Harrisburg on a charge of fatal pretense was released on $300 bond for an appearance on May 6. Harry Werden alias K Wayne remanded to jail in default of $500. Bond secured by family car and a diamond ring. Preliminary hearing held before Justice Bitner. Isadore B Lyon of Hagerstown to be evaluated June 1 at Dickinson College commencement. Lyon active in French Club Mohler Scientific Club and Tea Epsilon Phi fraternity.
The Hester Long Company of this city bid 118595.95 to construct two and a half miles of improved highway in Quincy Township Franklin County Pa The bid was the lowest of three and the local firm will be awarded the contract if acceptable to the department.
