New York on April 28 reports John D. Rockefeller has a new great grandchild. A daughter was born just before midnight to Mr and Mrs David Milton at their home 10 West 14th Street. Mrs Milton is Abby Rockefeller, daughter of John D Rockefeller Sr.
A working accord would allow the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad to operate trains over the Western Maryland system from Hagerstown to Lurgan with connections to the Reading network. Western Maryland crews would handle freight from Ha rperstown, while B and O engines would operate to Lurgan. Rumors say Pennsylvania Railroad may boost Hagerstown activity by taking over Norfolk and Western operations.
A tornado swept Middletown and Myersville between 2 and 3 this morning, leaving a path of destruction. The Middletown Register reports roofs ripped from buildings, including the newspaper plant, extensive orchard and tree damage, and a house fire at the John Crampton home.
Charleston W Va April 28 C W Osenton Democratic National Committeeman announces that Governor Smith of New York will enter the West Virginia primary as a Democratic candidate for president against Senator James A Reed of Missouri. Osenton fronts the Smith boom in West Virginia.
Eight year old Patricia Fitzmaurice daughter of Major James Fitzmaurice is to be New York's Queen of the May. She accepted the invitation from Louis I Harris Commissioner of Health in a radio message from the Inner Dresden en route to the United States with her mother. The annual Central Park festival is conducted by the Health Department.
An improved 1.8 mile road through Mont Alto to the Pennsylvania State Sanatorium on South Mountain will be constructed this summer. The state provides part of the funds and Franklin County has arranged to cover its share of the cost.
NORRISTOWN Pa April 28 The naval balloon crew owe their lives to convicts after a squall tore rope lines from the balloon causing a rough descent. Dozens of prisoners grabbed the lines and pulled the balloon to the ground over a prison farm, dragging the crew across fields before landing safely.
