Bishop McDowell Dies At 79 In Washington
Bishop William Fraser McDowell, age 79, longtime Methodist Episcopal Church leader, died Monday after a heart attack upon returning home from Morgantown North Carolina. He led the Washington area from 1916 to 1932 and Chicago from 1904 to 1916, and helped unify the Methodist Church.

Hawk Entered Guilty Plea in Double Marion Murder Case
Ralph Hawk 22 of Marion Pennsylvania pleaded guilty to two murder indictments in Franklin county court at Chambersburg for the New Year fires that killed Hazel Gelwix and her daughter Helen. Judge Davison ordered jail detention while scheduling further proceedings.
