George Davis, a colored man, arrived in Hagerstown yesterday and found the city inhospitable. He was found sleeping in the cab of a Baltimore and Ohio engine and taken to headquarters for the night. This morning he was released with instructions to take a direct route out of the city.
The Board of Education announced this year’s high school commencements in Washington County with Hancock on June 2, Clear Spring June 3, Hagerstown June 4, and other schools following June dates. Elementary certificates will be awarded at separate events, same time and place as diplomas. Mrs Debow of Spruce Street was taken to Williamsport for an operation. The Lathorian Choir will host a reception and program next week.
