Japan broadcast a new version of Saturday raids on Tokyo and three major cities, alleging launches from three US carriers in the Pacific. It claims enemy planes fled to China after loosing bombs, with light damage reported, while crews were questioned.
Early passage of a large Civilian Pilot Training appropriation is expected to accelerate the C P T at Hagerstown airport where 39 students train under Henson Flying Service. The bill, already passed by the House, would require CPT graduates to enlist in the Army Air Corps Reserve and add an eight week commercial pilot course to qualify graduates as instructors. Two local pilots Frank Kelley and Alton Dr Patterson would qualify as elementary flight instructors.
Maryland traffic safety commission reports a 27 percent drop in total fatalities in March versus February. Counties show a 41 percent decline with 22 deaths in March, 33 in February, and 37 in March 1941, while Baltimore city rose to 16 deaths. Prince Georges led county tolls with five deaths. Frederick had two, down from February, and Hagerstown saw fewer accidents.
Japanese headquarters said today that one of about 10 American bombers taking part in the raid on a Japanese island was forced down and its five crew members were captured. The five prisoners were being examined by Japanese authorities, with their names and other details to be broadcast after examination.
Four persons were injured, one perhaps seriously, in a 3:30 am triple auto crash one mile west of St Pauls Church on US Rt 40. Senator E Stuart Bushong announces a new state employment act allowing physically handicapped individuals to apply for jobs and take competitive exams if a physician certifies their capability. Senators Bushong and Carter sponsored the amendment after noting many capable applicants in Washington county were previously barred.
Edward M. Kopp faced Deputy Sheriff action after exceeding 50 mph on the Leitersburg pike. He told Magistrate Harry E. Snyder he forgot his Fairchild ID tag and had to return for it, claiming he sped to make up lost time. Kopp gave an address near Rouzerville, Pennsylvania.
Sugar wholesalers retailers and institutional heads are instructed to obtain blank registration forms from the Rationing Board in the Thomas Building North Jonathan street. OPM forms R305 for retailers and wholesalers and R310 for institutional heads must be completed and taken to a senior high school for signing.

Seven-year-old Donald Homer Canady escaped the December 7 air raid in Hawaii, then a Seattle family sought safety for him while the father served with the Navy. An automobile struck and killed Ronald yesterday, ending his safe return.
