Woman saloon keeper nabbed near Mason Dixon line
Pennsylvania state police raided a saloon run by Mrs. Gertie Jones on the road between Middleburg and Winterton just across the Mason Dixon line. Officers bought three bottles of home brew for 15 cents each and two drinks of liquor at 20 cents apiece. The proprietor was jailed in Chambersburg in default of $1,000 bond. The raid recovered 96 beer bottles a half gallon of moonshine and several bottles of whiskey.

Leap Kills Himself After Series of Attempts
JOHNSTOWN PA April 19 A 38 year old man Mike Valentine of Ralph ton Pa killed himself by leaping from the fourth floor of Memorial Hospital after two prior attempts. He learned Ralph ton officials planned to return him to face stabbing charges from April 10. Earlier he slashed his throat and placed dynamite near a stove in his room so hot ashes would fall on the sticks.

Inland flooding endangers St Francis basin near New Madrid
April 18 1927 flood reports say the St Johns bayou levee broke eight miles north of New Madrid Missouri flooding the St Francis river basin in Missouri and northeast Arkansas.
