Health Rife with Sweetstuffs Warned by Kiwanis
Two speakers at a Kiwanis luncheon warned that candy and sweets are harming the health of the rising generation. Dr W M Dutton and Miss Vera Thornhill cited mouth infections in Hagerstown schoolchildren and linked poor dentition to broader ailments and weakened mental energy. Thornhill reported 1,762 of 2,856 examined children had mouth infections, with 11,443 decayed temporary teeth and 5,469 decayed permanent teeth, urging preventive dentistry and daily mouth care.
