Be Kind to Animals Week will be observed nationwide and here next week starting Sunday April 15. Mrs Roger Whipple heads the local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and asks pastors to announce the week in services and urge congregations to participate. Dennis Morgan designed posters provided by the American Humane Association will be placed in public spaces and schools to remind the public of their duty. A drive for new memberships in the society continues.

About 500 Brooklyn evening high school students joined 2,000 others to persuade 1,500 peers to join, as police and demonstrators clashed. Princess Anne attorney seeks Democratic nod for Chief Judge
George M. Myers of Princess Anne announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Chief Judge of the First Judicial Circuit. He graduated from Washington County Academy in 1898 and Western Maryland College in 1901 and is the second Princess Anne lawyer to seek the post. The incumbent, Judge John R. Patlis on, reaches retirement age. Myers was born November 9, 1879, in Frederick County.
