25 Men Lose Lives When Oil Tanker Blows Up. Elkton Md swept by disastrous fire. Bank cashier shoots self in Ludlow Ky after admitting a large shortage.
Lees Arthur Texas April 12 The blackened hull of the oil tanker Venezuela rode the waters of Port Arthur as early yesterday two gasping women aboard tore out her fas and killed 25 men. The explosion scorched plates and twisted superstructure, showing a fire that burned fiercely for two hours. None escaped the crew quarters. several crew members suffered severe burns or loss of limbs. About 60 men were released from hospital as emergency treatment continued. The exact cause remained undetermined though refinery men suspected gasoline overflow from a unit coming into contact with steam.
Charges of conduct involving Rev. Quy Willis Holmes of New Bedford were sustained by the Investigating Committee for the New England Conference of the Methodist Church. A Point of Rocks incident left a 14 year old, head of the Whithead family, dead shortly after hospital arrival. His 12 year old brother survived with injuries. The two were sawing boards when a log misfortune occurred, the younger sustained fatal internal injuries. The accident occurred about a mile north of Point of Rocks in a mountain district. The four-foot diameter saw was operated by a motor attached to the saw frame and the cause remains undetermined.

She told police in the presence of her five children of a five year romance with Donaldson. Authorities indicated a charge would be faced against Mrs Mullins.
