A radio from Hankow says American Consul Frank P. Lockhart chartered two steamers moored offshore as residences for about 65 Americans remaining at Hankow amid rising dangers. Japanese reports from Seachow 56 miles west of Shanghai describe police and coolies surrounding the Japanese consulate blocking evacuations of 34 men and 10 women. Reports also say about 10 Cantonese individuals aged 20s to 30s were executed in the Usingtao region by Shangtung military authorities.
Chicago April 4 11 2 Mrs Anne Walsh Carrington testified she kissed her brother in law Campbell Carrington just once. She described the incident during cross examination in the divorce suit in which Col Edward Carrington named his brother as correspondent and Mrs Carrington also seeks a divorce.
Cantonese forces face threats on two fronts as Manchurian units advance along the Tientsin Hukow rail line and Sun Chuanfang's army moves south along the Grand Canal. Reports from Nanking and Chinkiang say Cantonese have suffered reverses with about five hundred wounded moved from Hukow to Nanking in the past days.

In Paterson New Jersey on a Friday night clash erupted between Italian factions and anti fascists. Canes and stones were used as police detained eleven men after arrests. The mob, amid a heat of anti fascist actions and a masked procession, dispersed near the Alexander Hamilton Hotel as buses from New York arrived for the demonstrations led by national league officials.
A circulating report says taxpayers plan immediate steps to block salary increases given to local Republican officeholders by State Senator Alexander L. Hagner during the last session. The state law allegedly allows protests when affecting current officeholders, sparking court-house excitement over salaries boosted for judges and other officials. Continued on Page 10.

Washington April 11 Justice Hitz postponed the 20 day sentence for contempt of the Senate against Harry F. Sinclair, wealthy oil operator, announced at court opening with no explanation. Sinclair and former Interior Secretary Albert B. Fall face April 25 trial on conspiracy to defraud the government over the Teapot Dome lease to Mam-Moth Oil. Sinclair was found guilty March 16 for refusing Senate questions and plans to appeal.

In Maple Plain Minnesota two new atla women were burned to death when their farmhouse burned. The dead are Mr and Mrs George Hever a middle aged couple and David Roberts 60. Pennsylvania state police confirmed an arson attempt at Blue Rock United Brethren Church near Waynesboro. A kerosene soaked burlap bag was found between the foundation and floor beneath the choir loft after a Women’s Missionary Society meeting. Firefighters contained the blaze with no serious damage. Congregation members report no known enemies or factional disputes.
Governor General Wood's official car was struck by a stone on the highway from Baguio to Manila as it passed Pangasinan. No injuries occurred as Wood was not in the vehicle, and an investigation is under way.

Arkansas residents in 240 square miles along Its Lake prepared to move real ground as floodwaters rose. About 400 people live in the affected area and nearly 5,000 acres were under water, with levees protecting the region and men racing to shore up sandbags after a prior breach.

In Union City Tennessee on April 11 a brave woman thwarted a prison break by fifteen Obion County jail inmates. Mrs J K R McCain wife of the jailer seized her husband’s pistol and entered the jail living quarters chasing back escaping prisoners. Three who had reached outside were recaptured in their cells while twelve others were moved to safer quarters. No escapes had been recaptured at report time.
The Herald-Mail will close its business office from noon to 3 p m on Friday in observance of Good Friday. The practice has grown in recent years with many large cities suspending business during the holy period.
In New York on April 11 a motion for a separate trial for Ruth Snyder, co defendants with Henry Judd Gray in the murder of Albert Snyder, was argued before Justice Scudder. The courtroom in Long Island City was packed as Gray and Mrs. Snyder appeared with their attorneys separated by others. The defense contended injustice if tried together, while District Attorney Newcombe and Gray’s counsel argued separate trials would amount to a miscarriage of justice.
Three miners homes in Mount Clair district owned by Strickler Coal Company, a non union concern, were dynamited last night with damage mainly to windows. No injuries reported among occupants. A fourth home of a nonunion miner at Reynoldsville was damaged by a dynamite blast Sunday morning.
A three-vehicle collision on the Morton Grove cross road near Chicago claims the lives of Elmer Johnson of Chicago and two women, Mrs. Goldie Madsen and her daughter Mrs. Peggy Walters, all fatalities reported from the crash scene on the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul road.
Lloyd Routzahn pleaded guilty to assaulting his sister Louella and was fined ten dollars plus costs after arraignment before Judge J Scott Bower. Tyson Bruner pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated and received thirty days in jail after being arraigned this morning on West Franklin Street.

Charles Smith of North Locust street is critically injured with a fractured skull after a sidecar detachment on the Western Pike Sunday afternoon. His companion Roy Parlett of North Cannon avenue is hospitalized with numerous cuts and bruises after the motorcycle crash. Parlett will undergo x ray exams to assess head injuries. Dr. H. R. Fire destroyed an unoccupied house one mile north of Tomstown in the early hours Saturday. The structure, owned by Harry Shockey, burned for unknown reasons with investigators classing it as a fire of uncertain origin.
