Orchardists Here Handed Crop Loans
Four Washington county orchardists have received loans from the Production Credit Corp during the past week. There were 12 applications for loans in Maryland for a total of 54000 subject to crop conditions. Orchardists whose applications were passed upon favorably have received a part of the loan to use for spray and fertilizer, and the remainder after June 1 provided their crops are normal. An inspection will be made after that date, when the orchards receiving loans will be checked. If the crop is below normal the loans will be reduced accordingly. District 2, East Central Fruit Growers Production Credit Association reported 122 applicants. Virginia led with 60, Pennsylvania 25, West Virginia 18, Maryland 17, Delaware 7, none from Puerto Rico.
