40 Injured in Pennsy Wreck Near Columbia City
The Go tham Limited from Chicago to New York derailed at 12 12 p m Eastern Standard Time in Columbia City Indiana injuring about 40 of its 300 passengers. Fifteen were taken to Fort Wayne hospitals. No fatalities were reported. The engine and 13 of 15 cars left the rails with only the Pullman overturning. Indiana State Police aided in handling the injured and the scene was witnessed by Columbia City officer Arthur Jackson.

Burglar duo shot during Brunswick Moose Lodge break in
State Police said one man died and a 16 year old boy was seriously wounded as two suspects, tied to recent Martinsburg burglaries, were surprised by a night watchman during a late night burglary at the Moose Lodge headquarters in Brunswick. The watchman reported a small man hidden in a cupboard observed the intruders as they rifled the kitchen and bar and attempted to access a safe. The dead man was identified as 21 year old George Ramey, an escaped convict from Martinsburg, and the wounded teen was taken to Frederick City Hospital.
