Negro Held Without Bond In Maryland Murder Case
Irving Howard, 23, a colored man, is held without bond in Baltimore on a murder charge in the death of Abs. Mary Gunther near her Anne Arundel County farm. Arraigned before Magistrate Louis Strauss in Annapolis, he pleaded innocent as a heavy police guard escorted him back to jail. Gunther, 28, was found slain Thursday after being dragged from her car. her mouth was gagged.

Parole Held Responsible in Murder Case
In West Chester Pennsylvania on April 7, J Paul MacElree counsel for Alexander Meyer argued before Chester county judges W Buier Windle and Ernest Harver that the commonwealth shares some responsibility in Meyer's release from a Huntingdon reformatory in 1934. Assistant district attorney Joseph G McKeone urged the death penalty after Meyer admitted raping driving a car to an abandoned farm then killing 16 year old Helen More by dropping her body in a well. The court adjourned with two written opinions to be issued Monday.
