Guests at the Hotel Baker on North Foundry Street faced a dramatic blaze Sunday afternoon around 2 o clock. A room on the third floor burned, consuming four hundred dollars in United States currency, one man’s wardrobe, portions of others clothing and a carpet. Dr William Bean and Mrs Baker aided in the effort to control the fire before it spread, with W P Miller and J W Goliday among those reporting losses of money and clothing.
