Officials say declines in fluid milk output due to higher labor and feed costs prompt possible general price adjustments. Butter cream diversion to more profitable products may lead CES to place cream for manufactured goods under price control or restore wartime cream-use restrictions.
Six of seven Washington county members of the State Central Committee endorsed Herman L Mills for governor while D Eldred Rinehart did not sign. The resolution cited Mills's to constituents and county backing in Maryland politics.

President Truman warned he would veto the wage bill if the parity rider attached to the farm parity formula is included. He spoke at a news conference as the Senate approved the amendment proposed by Senator Russell. An accord reportedly emerged among Senators on a compromise plan to lift the minimum industrial wage from 10 to 60 cents an hour.
Territorial Gov. Ingram M. Stainback led a coordinated relief effort with Army Navy and Red Cross officials to rush critical items to Hawaii and other ravaged areas. Six small kittens orphaned by a passing motorist near Funkstown were adopted by Mrs. Don Beckley’s pet cat. The cat feeds the kittens with a medicine dropper, and caretaking reports say the brood is thriving.

Biberman Brothers of Philadelphia, dress makers for women, will open a branch in Hagerstown in the Southern Shoe Company building on North Mulberry street. Initial employment will be 100 to 300 women, rising to about 1000. A factory representative will hold interviews at the Leiter Building on West Washington street Friday.

Washington county farmers may obtain Farm Security Administration operating loans after the Second Emergency Deficiency Bill, with demand about 35 percent above last year. Bryce Hopkins says funds now cover veteran and non veteran buyers of family type farms up to 12 000 dollars, four year terms at 3 percent interest.
