The mayor and council confirmed the annual list of appointees with a unanimous vote, except Harry Hamilton who had a 23 to 2 tally for approval. No successors were named to fill vacancies from resignations of Harold F. Bester and George B. Slerpaugh.
The Reformed Ladies Aid Society met at the Chariton church for a quilting day. A noon chicken pie meal was served to Wade Huffman and multiple named members. Visitors camped at the home of Mrs. Howard Saukeney, who has been ill.
A vintage ad touts Carter's Little Liver Pills to stimulate bile flow from the liver into the bowels. It claims proper bile secretion prevents indigestion, fullness, and sour feelings, urging readers to buy the 10 and 25 cent packages.

The mayor and council presented Fire Chief Max S Hoover with an emblem honoring ten years of service. The emblem bears the figure 16 and was purchased a year ago but presented only after confirming Hoover had completed nine years at the time. Chaplain Chapman will administer Easter Sunday at 10 35 am.
