Safety Rules Adopted For State Boats
The Tidewater Fisheries Commission adopted Coast Guard traffic and safety rules for Maryland boats. All boats must have a life preserver for each person, inboard motorboats need fire extinguishers and flame arrestors, and boats over 28 feet must have a bell and whistle. Sailboats are not exempt from the preserve rule. Inland rules cover passing, right of way, signals, lighting and steering. The act takes effect June 1 and requires registrations for motors over 714 horsepower and sailboats over 25 feet.

Golf Pro Dies of Heart Attack at MIAMI SHORES
Bill Scott, 75, former golf professional at the Baltimore Country Club, died of a heart attack while vacationing in Miami Shores. Born in Scotland, he came to the United States in 1906, joined Baltimore CC in 1919, and retired in 1946. He was a famed figure to Maryland and DC golfers and remained a regular spectator. Survivors include brother Bob of Baltimore, a retired greenskeeper, and a brother and sister in Scotland.
