Three Mutineers Killed in Folsom Prison Break
Special dispatch from Sacramento reports at 8:30 p.m. a quarry breakout at Folsom prison near the canal line above the power house left three convicts dead and four wounded after a forty five minute battle. Notorious George Sontag and others led the clash, guards fired from cover, and after a coordinated assault the convicts were trapped in a hollow where Dalton Williams Wilson Abbott were killed. Prison officials praised the guards nerve and marksmanship and said no guards were hurt. The event followed months of warning to prepare for a prison storm aimed at freeing Sontag and others.
