A deranged man, Thomas Lobb, holed up on the fourth floor of the United States Hotel at 123 Eddy street in San Francisco after firing on crowds for two hours. He killed himself at 8 05 am after wounding nine others, including a police officer. Police and rifle squads arrived but could not reach him.
