Japan May Object to an Armistice

St Petersburg June 20 The only hope for an armistice rests with President Roosevelt though no steps have been taken. Japan resists ceding its strategic gains and may delay peace talks to aid a Russian defeat. British officials offer no guidance as American officers await audience with the Emperor. Russia sees no date fixed for the plenipotentiaries meeting and reports of preliminaries exist but lack confirmation.

Teacher of Science Chosen by County Board

The Kern County Board of Education elected Roy E. Dickerson as teacher of science and mathematics for the Kern County High School to fill a vacancy. Dickerson, UC graduate of 1900, has taught across California and held roles from vice principal to principal at several schools. The board also hired Stone and Smith of San Francisco to prepare plans for a new addition to the high school, with a firm representative arriving soon to consult on the project.

Terminus of Sunset Road Extension Fixed

The Santa Fe extension into Midway District is fixed at Section 8 32 28 on Chansler Canfield holdings. Surveyors report changes in the line as fifteen men work to hug hills and maintain grade for proximity to small producers between Sunset and the terminus. New survey extends the road to 10.5 miles. construction to begin soon.
