Special Dispatches report from Wheeling Creek Ohio on June 13 as miners react to the Columbus compromise. Firing between militia and strikers continues at Canal Dover. Colonel Darrow requests reinforcements and a gatling gun with infantry. About six hundred miners were met, sparking a riot.
Santa Cruz June 13 a powder mill explosion near noon ignited woods and endangered other mills. Superintendent Peyton requested the city fire department but danger delays firefighting though apparatus will be sent.

The Inyo Independent reports a rush to a new placer find in Ma zourka Canyon. Mexicans and others have begun prospecting after finding pay dirt.
