Police probe a note found on the street in San Diego dated yesterday morning. The writer identified as Virginia D a 21 year old newspaper correspondent in a feminine hand left details of relatives in Oakland and a claim the Pacific would be her grave. The brown morocco purse with the note held no identifying clues.
New York c June 12 Robert Neill a wealthy Los Angeles resident and first cabin passenger on the White Star liner Germanic which arrived from Liverpool was reportedly robbed at sea en route to New York.
A passenger reported on arrival that he was robbed at sea the previous Wednesday of drafts and about 20000 dollars. The money was the price of a Bel fast estate sale. Mr Neill landed penniless and could not pay 126 dollars demanded on gifts he brought. Detectives are investigating.
RANDSBURG June 12. A. Burcham said the Yellow Aster would not recede from its position. Machinists prep the mills for permanent shutdown while bulkheads are installed and shafts covered. More than a dozen men have left town as six deputies are sworn in to keep peace at the miners camp amid union warnings to strike breakers.
In Yosemite California one morning Mrs. Starke wife of Julius Starke a Santa Barbara wood carver died after taking wood alcohol. Dr Cease treated the prostrate woman but she died despite antidotes and a stomach pump. It is unclear if the act was accidental or intentional. the couple had married in Santa Barbara last winter and were new to the valley.

In Sneedville Tennessee on June 12 Louis Bolin aged 60 was killed by his 13 year old step daughter who struck him with an ax after he chastised her brother. The assault occurred at their home and the girl acted after the stepson shouted for aid.
Two men die and a third is missing with seven others injured when a large quantity of powder exploded in the drying house of the Weldy Powder Company near Monterey Pennsylvania. The cause is not yet known and the blast knocked out lights in the area.
In a dramatic tremor, panes shattered and buildings shuddered, resembling an earthquake. Residents reported widespread damage to glass within homes and nearby structures, with tremors felt across the area. Emergency crews inspected streets for hazards.

San Francisco June 12 The warehouse books of Eppinger and Co have not yet been turned over to Receiver Wadsworth. A formal demand was made yesterday and the firm’s attorney asked for until this morning before replying. An answer is expected this afternoon. Expert accountants are ready to begin work as soon as the books are produced.
